Bath splash. I learned that the flash sync on my camera is 1/500, as I had the shutter speed set to 1/1600, and it defaulted to 1/500, which was fast enough to catch the water mid-air.

I took this around 1996, on an od manual Minolta with a cable release. I think that the shutter speed was somewhere around 1/8 or 1/4, but don't know for sure. Waiting at the bus stop. This is sort of handheld, because I didn't use a tripod, but I pressed the camera up against the glass to hold it still. I used the self-timer (1-sec) to reduce shaking, and set it to take 2 shots at a time. I had to set the film speed to ISO 50 to get up to the 2 second shutter speed, but wanted to take a longer one.

Thanks to Sam from http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/ for inspiring me through his photography and teaching me that you can take photos at a slower shutter speed that 1/30. One technique that helps with this problem is to use continuous shooting, wherein you take a few consecutive photos, and the motion of pressing the shutter button is prevented on the second and subsequent shots. Another is to use a self-timer (my A610 allows me to set it at 1 second) for the same purpose, and even then you can set it to take up to 10 consecutive shots on its own.
